Creating and Editing a Yarn

You can set information and properties of yarn types individually and optionally.

Optional yarn information:

Yarn properties:

Quantity of Individual Threads

The quantity of individual threads indicates of how many individual threads the yarn type is composed. Depending on the quantity, new individual threads appear at the left side of the dialog window with further parameters. The maximum value of the plying is 20.

Twist

The twist specifies how strongly the individual threads are twisted with each other. The maximum value of the twist is 200. Additionally, the S and Z twist of the yarn type can be specified.

Stitch Geometry by %

By the setting of the stitch geometry, the thickness of the stitch loop, the stitch legs and of the stitch feet can be influenced.
The maximum value is 300.

If Uniform Stitch Geometry is activated, the geometry of the yarn type is changed evenly.

Thread Arrangement

The type of yarn arrangement influences whether the individual threads twist or not. This can be set to automatically by the system or manually by the user. With the manual setting, the user can move every yarn by its cross-section to any preferred position.

Use Preview Colors

The preview colors simplify the creation of a yarn type, as individual threads are displayed in different preview colors.
This is especially useful for Mouliné or melange effects.

But the preview colors have no effect on the actual color of the digital yarn.

Thread Cross Section

The cross-section shows the current position of each single yarn that was defined by the quantity of the individual threads.

With the manual setting, you can move the threads manually to the desired arrangement.

Schema

The schema defines the basic appearance of a yarn type.

Currently the user can choose between Default and Rope.

Quantity of Individual Threads

The user can define several sub-threads for each individual yarn.
The maximum quantity of sub-threads is 50.

Quantity of Fibers

The quantity of fibres is an optical value to define the quantity of the fibres of each thread.
The maximum value is 800.

Thickness of Fibers (µm)

The thickness of the fibres is expressed in micrometers.
The maximum value is 100 micrometers.

Twisting of Fibers

The twisting of the fibres shows, how the fibres and sub-threads are twisted together.
The maximum value is 100.

Yarn Twisting

For information, the user can add whether it is about an S or a Z twisted yarn type.
