If a pattern is worked with many yarn carriers, problems may result during yarn insertion. The yarn carriers that are floated-in, might have to pass yarn carriers that have already knit in the pattern. As a result, the thread cannot be held deep enough and drop stitches might result at the fabric selvedge.
To prevent this, all yarn carriers knitting in the pattern should be knit-in before the start.
