Example: CA with Main Colors and Sub-colors
If a CA is created from a selection where main colors as well as sub-colors are drawn-in, then a color segment is also created for every sub-color.
The sub-color is set to the same row as the main color in the processing area.
The segment of the sub-color is entered directly beside the segment of the main color.
This way you can easily define areas in the pattern that contain different knitting techniques, but that are knitted with the same yarn carrier.
Procedure:
- 1
- Create the motif in the pattern.
The motif consists of the colors red and blue with a corresponding sub-color on white background. - 2
- Select the area and create a CA from the selection.
- The following CA appears:

- 3
- Make the desired changes in the CA:
Duplicate columns, modify color, draw structure.
- In the pattern in this area the yarn carriers for white, red and blue are used and knit the structures defined in the CA into the specified color areas.
