Presser Feet for Weft Yarn and Knitting-in

Usage of weft yarn presser feet

The use of the weft yarn presser foot depends on the carriage direction.

The weft yarn presser foot is always active following the knitting system by which the weft yarn carrier is driven.
With a CMS 330W / 530W, the weft yarn carrier is driven by the leading system and the enclosing yarn carrier by the following system.

Knitting direction to the left

  • Red arrow
    = presser foot unit inactive
  • Orange arrow
    = presser foot unit active
  • Within the carriage stroke to the left the presser foot on the rear works as weft yarn presser.
  • Front presser foot units are inactive.

Knitting direction to right

  • Within the carriage stroke to the right the presser foot on the front works as weft yarn presser.
  • Rear presser feet are inactive.

Usage of knitting-in presser feet

The use of the knitting-in presser foot depends on the carriage direction.

The knitting-in presser foot is always active following the knitting system.

Knitting direction to the left

  • Red arrow
    = presser foot unit inactive
  • Orange arrow
    = presser foot unit active
  • Within the carriage stroke to the left, the presser feet work as knitting-in presser feet on the front.
  • The knitting-in presser feet are active following the knitting system.
  • Rear presser feet are inactive.

Knitting direction to right

  • Within the carriage stroke to the right, the presser feet work as knitting-in presser feet on the rear.
  • The knitting-in presser feet are active following the knitting system.
  • Front presser foot units are inactive.

For ADF Machines

The presser foot can be used in the ADF machines as weft yarn presser foot or as knitting-in presser foot.

Usage of weft yarn presser feet

  • Red arrow
    = presser foot unit inactive
  • Orange arrow
    = presser foot unit active
  • Within the carriage stroke to the left the presser foot works as weft yarn presser on the rear.
  • The weft yarn presser foot are ahead of the knitting system active.
  • Front presser foot units are inactive.

Knitting direction to right

  • Within the carriage stroke to the right the presser foot works as weft yarn presser on the front.
  • The weft yarn presser foot are ahead of the knitting system active.
  • Rear presser feet are inactive.

Usage of knitting-in presser feet

Knitting direction to the left

    = presser foot unit inactive
  • Orange arrow
    = presser foot unit active
  • Within the carriage stroke to the left, the presser feet work as knitting-in presser feet on the front.
  • The knitting-in presser feet are active following the knitting system.
  • Rear presser feet are inactive.

Knitting direction to right

  • Within the carriage stroke to the right, the presser feet work as knitting-in presser feet on the rear.
  • The knitting-in presser feet are active following the knitting system.
  • Front presser foot units are inactive.

Example

With a long float the knitting-in presser foot holds the yarn deep.
