How to Install the Driver for the Smart Card Reader

    • Before using the GKS Smartcard, the PC/SC component must be installed from the installation CD of the manufacturer (Smartcard Reader).
  1. Read and observe the manufacturer instructions (Smartcard Reader).
  2. Put the installation CD of the manufacturer in the CD drive.
  3. Connect the USB reading device (Smartcard Reader) to a USB port. The Windows Hardware Assistant starts automatically.

    • If the Windows Hardware Assistant does not appear automatically, start it via the Windows menu StartButtonW7 / Control Panel / Hardware.
  4. Follow the dialog and specify the path to the driver on the installation CD.

    Install driver from CD only!
  5. Finish the installation with the Finish button.
    • The driver for the Smartcard Reader is installed on your workstation.
      You can use the Smartcard Reader on to the USB port.
