Automatic Color Reduction

Reduce number of colors of a picture:

  1. The Step 1: Color selection is open.
  2. The Shape option field in the Pattern section is not active.

    Set the desired value (2 to 16) via the Arrow up or Arrow down of the keyboard or with a mouse click in the input field for the number of target colors below the Color reduction button.

    Click on the Color reduction button.
  1. If more colors are contained in the original, the number of target colors is reduced. In the process colors with a similar color value are combined. The result is displayed in the picture display and in the color tables Target colors and Allocated colors.

If you increase the value in the input field for the number of target colors to original value, then you can undo this action with the Color reduction button. The colors in the Target colors color table are reset.

When the Shape option field in the Pattern section is selected, the picture is automatically reduced to 2 target colors. The input field for the number of target colors is deactivated.
