Example 5: Color Arrangement for the explanation of the behavior of the symbols for horizontal repetition

Explanation of the behavior of the repetition symbols based on the Color Arrangements CA5-1 and CA5-2:

Create the Color Arrangement CA5:

  1. The pattern project of pattern Pattern-7 is open.
  2. Pattern in Design Pattern is active.

    : Colors from the Yarn Colors table were used to draw the basic pattern.

    If necessary, save the pattern project under a new name.

    In the Pattern Row control column, select the first 2 pattern rows.

    Position the cursor in the pattern area.

    Open the context menu and select Selection / Create Color Arrangement: .
    - or -
    Click directly the button in the ribbon.
  1. The Color Arrangement Editor with the original 'Default knitting process' of the 2 selected pattern rows is opened.

Result after technical processing

  • Default knitting process from the original CA
  • Yarn carriers are not combined
  • Structure of the design pattern (basic pattern) from the corresponding source rows

: This knitting process can also be knitted with 'Normal yarn carrier', as there is never more than one yarn carrier at one position and also no yarn carrier has to pass another.

The colors (= yarn carrier) from the 'processing area' of the CA are processed according to the number of knitting systems of the selected machine.

  • Search Area:
    The symbol (default entry) repeats the needle action from the source row in the entire color area from the left to the right
  • Processing Area:
    Based on the symbol, the corresponding needle action from the source row of the design pattern is read out and knitted according to the search color.

    Position the cursor on the column selection bar.

    Select the color column in the color segment of the yarn color #5 (green) with LMB.

    Position the cursor at the position (1).

: If you open the context menu at the cursor position (2), only to work with color segments is available - not with columns.

    Check the generated Color Arrangement on correct entries with the Check button.
    : The knitting procedure cannot be checked!

    If necessary, in case of a Color Arrangement already used in the design pattern, apply the changes to the basic pattern with the Apply button.

    Enter the generated Color Arrangement via the control column into the desired rows of the design pattern.

  • Select the desired CA in the tool window in the CA tab
  • Color Arrangement control column: Open the context menu with RMB.

: If a sub-color is saved and drawn in the design pattern for a color used in the CA, then this sub-color can also be applied in the CA.

Assign Color Arrangements Automatically

: The color sequences are checked in the defined search area. If existing CAs match, these CAs are automatically inserted into the area as specified by the settings.

  • Structure in the yarn color #5 (green) with border processing to the left + right of a needle with Front Stitch with Transfer needle action

Symbol View

: The Intarsia binding is only worked on 'front stitch' using the structure at the color field edge. This is not visible on the fabric font.

Fabric View

The structure runs diagonally inside of the color field of the yarn color #5, since the repetition always begins on the 1. needle of the color field at the left edge.

Result after technical processing

  • Structure links-links in the yarn color #5 (green) with border processing to the left + right of a needle with Front Stitch with Transfer needle action

Symbol View

: The Intarsia binding is only worked on 'front stitch' using the structure at the color field edge. This is not visible on the fabric font.

Fabric View

The structure (rib) runs straight inside of the color field of the yarn color #5, since the repetition always begins on the 1. needle of the pattern at the left pattern edge.
This means that the shape of the color field (circle, square etc.) does not affect the insertion of the structure from the CA.

: Here it is recommended to adapt the step height of the color field from 2 rows, because the structure has a height cycle of 2 rows.
