Example 6: Color Arrangement to change the Intarsia binding (border processing) at the color field edge

With this Color Arrangement CA6 the Intarsia binding (border processing) is to be changed at the color field edge.

: A Color Arrangement is only necessary in this situation, when the Intarsia binding is not available in the Knit Explorer as a 'Technical module' knitting element.

Create the Color Arrangement CA6:

  1. The pattern project of pattern Pattern-7 is open.
  2. Pattern in Design Pattern is active.

    : Colors from the Yarn Colors table were used to draw the basic pattern.

    If necessary, save the pattern project under a new name.

    In the Pattern Row control column, select the first 2 pattern rows.

    Position the cursor in the pattern area.

    Open the context menu and select Selection / Create Color Arrangement: .
    - or -
    Click directly the button in the ribbon.
  1. The Color Arrangement Editor with the original 'Default knitting process' of the 2 selected pattern rows is opened.

Result after technical processing

  • Default knitting process from the original CA
  • Yarn carriers are not combined
  • Structure of the design pattern (basic pattern) from the corresponding source rows
  • Intarsia Binding: Front tuck, Intarsia binding at the start of the color field (knit-in) as default setting

: This knitting process can also be knitted with 'Normal yarn carrier', as there is never more than one yarn carrier at one position and also no yarn carrier has to pass another.

The colors (= yarn carrier) from the 'processing area' of the CA are processed according to the number of knitting systems of the selected machine.

  • Search Area:
    The symbol (default entry) repeats the needle action from the source row in the entire color area from the left to the right
  • Processing Area:
    Based on the symbol, the corresponding needle action from the source row of the design pattern is read out and knitted according to the search color.

    Position the cursor on the column selection bar.

    Select the color column in the color segment of the yarn color #5 (green) with LMB.

: At the cursor position (2), the RMB opens the context menu only to work with color segments.

Usage in the Color Arrangement:

In the Search Area:

  • Symbol Excess Width
    • Any quantity of columns
    • The quantity of columns to the left / right can be symmetrical or asymmetrical
  • For additional columns to the left and / or right beside the color column marked with Repetition to the right

In the 'Processing area':

  • The following entries are possible in the columns with the symbol:
    • No Entry
    • Entry of color and needle action

Excess Width

Widening of the color field by the number of columns marked with the symbol at the most up to the shape edge.

The column (n) with the symbol disables the preset for border processing in the Yarn Carrier dialog box.

Excess width at Shape Edge

Widening of the color field by the number of columns marked with the symbol also at the shape edge.

The color area will be widened by the specified column number within shape and beyond the shape edge. Here, 'Outside shape' is set to 'Within shape'.

Example: Structure for the Intarsia binding (border processing) in the color segment of the yarn color #5 (green)

: The structure was drawn with needle actions, that contain the 'automatic transfer' information. The transfer is entered into the pattern during the technical processing.

Attention: The color field is widened due to working with the symbol!!!
This widening has as a consequence at the next carriage stroke that a 'feeding' of the yarn carrier takes place depending on the width of the widening.
