Knitting Areas tab

If width cycles have been determined with the Cycles dialog box, a size table will be generated in the knitting program (Sintral). With it simple size changes can be made on the machine. With patterns for machines with comb, width cycles, and therefore also the size tables, can only be used when the knitting-in of the comb thread is not realized with the modules, but instead with a SintralSintral function. For this purpose, select the option button Sintral in the New pattern dialog box when generating the pattern. If you had already selected the Module option button, you can allocate the Sintral function later with the Replace Starts function in the Edit menu.

In the Knitting Areas tab of the Configuration dialog box, you make the following settings:

Element

Meaning

Start position SEN1 section

The first SEN area starts with the first needle.

The pattern center is set to the center of the needle bed.

CMS TC-R / CMS 530 T:
With this machine only the CENTER option field is available.

The outer right needle of the pattern is positioned on the last needle of the needle bed

Needle

Position the pattern anywhere on the needle bed by entering a needle number.

SEN Section

List field
Quantity

On a machine with a comb only one SEN area can be generated, and on a machine without a comb up to four SEN areas.
: The set number of SEN areas is available following to the Technical Processing in the Yarn carrier allocation section of the Yarn Field Allocation dialog box. Here the SEN areas can be selected and the yarn carriers moved on the rails for each SEN area.

Input field
Distance:
inches

If no comb is used and if several SEN areas were selected, the specification refers to the distance between these SEN areas.
The distance is specified in inches.
: With several SEN areas, the areas that follow the first SEN area will be positioned on the needle bed with the distance specified in the SEN Distance section.

Size table section

List field
Cycle Counters / Counters

Selection of the cycle counter/counter for the size table.
: The value of the cycle counter / counter from the size table is used to specify which size is to be knitted. This has priority over an entry in the Cycles dialog box. If the cycle counter / counter from the table is to be used, no cycle counter / counter may be selected in this list field. If different cycle counters / counters are allocated in the table for the entries with the value -1 or -2 in the Default column, then that cycle counter / counter will be used that is allocated to the first of these entries.

Correction (for FF and center part only)

To make size corrections on the machine for patterns for which the comb is used, the counters set here are written to the knitting program (Sintral) if the checkbox is activated.

Size correction switch list field

  • Left
  • Right

With the size correction switch the size of the fabric piece can be changed on the machine. The maximum width per size will be determined by the pattern drawn in the M1plus. The maximum width is checked in the Sintral and the message Invalid size correction #70>x is output if necessary.
: The number of needles is specified with the counter value. With a positive value, the fabric piece is widened by the specified number of needles on the left and right. With a negative value, the fabric piece becomes correspondingly narrower.
You can set the size correction for the left and right-hand side of the center part independently. Using the same counter for the left and right-hand side will lead to a symmetrical correction of the sizes.

List fields
Auxiliary counters (used in Sintral)

  • Piece 1:
  • Piece 2:

Selection between any three auxiliary counters. The auxiliary counters belong to the size correction switch. The new starting needle on the right and on the left as well as the start of the new field are determined by the auxiliary counters.
You can define different auxiliary counters for the left and right fabric.

Special fabric pieces section

List field
Protection Rows (with cast-off)

Select a module from the Technical/Special knitting pieces/Protection rows (with cast-off) module group. This module is attached at the end of the pattern by the Technical Processing function with machines with a comb.
: With Drag & Drop you can drag an appropriate module from the Modules toolbar or the Module Explorer onto the field.

List field
Protection Rows (without cast-off)

Select a module from the Technical/Special knitting pieces/Protection rows (without cast-off) module group. This module is attached at the end of the pattern by the Technical Processing function with machines with a comb.
: With Drag & Drop you can drag an appropriate module from the Modules toolbar or the Module Explorer onto the field.

Use module color

The module is not inserted in the pattern with the yarn color of the last technical row, but instead with the module color.

Use yarn color
with input field

The module will be entered into the pattern with the selected yarn color.
Enter the color number of the desired yarn color in the input field.

List field
Knot:

Select the module for the knot from the Binding with knot module group.
The module specifies the binding of the yarn for the special fabric pieces (e.g. protection rows).
: With Drag & Drop you can drag an appropriate module from the Modules toolbar or the Module Explorer onto the field.

Knit yarn carrier to home position (YG-HOME) section

List field

Select module from the Technical/Special knitting rows/YG-Home module group. This module is used by the Technical Processing function when a yarn carrier is not positioned on its home position side after the last knitting sequence.
: Normally, the module from the Yarn Field Allocation dialog box is used for knitting-out. If no knitting-out is specified, the yarn carrier will be knitted-out with the module from the YG-Home list field.
The module is also used when two yarn carriers are used in a yarn field and a yarn carrier at the end of the yarn field is not located on its home position side.

List field
over neck opening

Select a module of the module group Technique/Special fabric pieces/YG-Home/V-neck. This module is used by the Technical Processing function when a yarn carrier is not positioned on its home position side after the last knitting sequence and for this purpose is positioned over an opening (shape attribute outside shape).

Yarn Length Control section

Select the the yarn length control mode.

  • Production without YLC
    • Setup2 does not contain any pages regarding yarn length control
  • Working with mm
  • Working with original fabric
  • As specified by Sintral

Yarn Length Control

No measuring within the start
(Takes effect with replacing the start)

Neither measure nor control the yarn length in the start (YLC-)

: If the pattern has already a start:
Call up the Replace starts... function to achieve the effect of the setting.

Add Sintral measuring function to YLC3

YLC3 Generate test program.
For the yarn length control according to YLC3 (Measuring in test fabric) a Sintral test program will be attached to the knitting program.
You specify the type of test fabric in the Setup.

With several SEN areas, the areas that follow the first SEN area will be positioned on the needle bed with the distance specified in the SEN section.

If the comb is in use, the complete width of the needle bed will be displayed in the fabric view and the technical view after technical processing. By this you can see the start position of SEN1. For machines without comb or when the comb is not in use, you can see the start position in the Sintral Check or the knitting program (Sintral).
If the comb is in use, you can not change the start position after the technical processing, because the knitting process is already set-up for the whole width. For machines without comb or when the comb is not in use, however, you can change the SEN area after the technical processing.
