RS17=0 + RS17=1 - Application example
The switchable cycle RS17 enables you to use a comb machine with or without using the comb and the clamping and cutting device.
Through additional adjusting options the flexibility of this application can be increased.
Production variant:
- First fabric: Start with comb. No clamping / cutting of the yarn carriers, no casting-off of the fabric.
- Following fabrics: Continuous start without comb, no clamping / cutting of the yarn carriers, no casting-off at the end of the fabric.
- Last fabric: Without comb, but clamping / cutting of the yarn carriers and casting-off of the fabric.
Pattern generation:

- Open a new pattern.

- Select machine with comb.

- In the Start section activate the check box.

- Draw pattern.

- Activate the control column and define the SINTRAL command in the last pattern row.
This SINTRAL command causes a machine stop at the machine (MS) if the piece counter has the value 1 (IF #100=1). Entering the value for the cycle counter RS17 you determine the further procedure for ending the pattern.

- In the tab of the Configuration dialog box activate the check box at the fabric end in the cast-off function (RS17=0).
- RS17 receives the value =0 by default. This way the yarn carriers are brought into the clamp and cut in the cast-off function.

- In the section in the tab select the protection rows with the list field.

- Open Yarn Field View

- Activate YG:nF for all yarn carriers.
- The yarn carriers stop after EAY or S0Y at #L, #R.

column of the Yarn field allocation for all yarn carriers select the entry 
. - The yarn carriers will be positioned at the fabric selvedge and not at the SEN border.

- In the YDF input field enter the value for the additional yarn carrier distance at the fully fashion fabric on 1.

- Confirm the settings in the yarn field with OK.

- Expand entire pattern.

- Start technical processing.

- Extract Sintral file.

- Deactivate write protection of the extracted file.

- In the Sintral line with the definition of #99=0 add the command IF RS17=1 S0YCR0.
- Now you have the opportunity of flexibly configuring the continuous production of the pattern on the machine. The yarn carriers are automatically positioned correctly.
The decision whether the last piece is to be finished with protection rows and casting-off is carried out via the setting of the cycle counter RS17.
Procedure on the machine:

- Load the files onto the machine.

- Execute Start Program (SP).
- 3
- Enter the piece counter.
- 4
- Start the machine.
- The machine knits the pattern until the piece counter reaches the value 1.
- Machine stops with MS at the end of the last pattern row (without protection rows).
- The PRINT message appears in the display. for cast-off set RS17=0.

- Enter the RS17 value. Currently it is =1
RS17=1:
- S0YCR0 - Empty courses until all yarn carriers are at the area of use (SEN or #L, #R).
- No clamping and cutting of the yarn carriers.
- No casting-off of the fabric.
RS17=0:
- S0Y Empty courses until all yarn carriers are in YG position (here the clamping point).
- Clamping and cutting of the yarn carriers.
- Casting-off of the fabric.
When producing fully fashion patterns functions for the transition are to be implemented. These serve for restoring the start width for the following fabric piece.
