Generate shape manually

A shape consists of shape edges to each of which different shape attributes are allocated. The shape attributes are information, for example, on the function (narrowing, widening, binding-off) and module allocation.
To generate a shape manually, the shape edges must be created first.

Generate a shape manually:

  1. A pattern without a shape is open.
    1
Run the New Shape (shr)... function in the File menu.
  1. The New Shape dialog box appears.
    2
Set the height and the width of the new shape.
    3
Close the dialog box with OK.
  1. The Symbol View [Shape] appears.
The rectangular shape is created with a shape part color Shape part color (within shape) from the toolbar Shape attributes.
    4

    5
Run the Shape Attributes... function in the Shape menu.
  1. The Shape attributes dialog box is opened.
    6
Create a shape edge with the symbol in the Shape attributes dialog box.

For details on creating shaped edges, please see in the description of the dialog box New Shape Edge / New Marking

    7
Allocate the required shape attributes to the new shaped edge.

To do this you must select the shape edge in the edge table of the dialog box.

    8
With the Apply in shape view button apply the shape edge to the selection list
    9
Select the shape edge in the selection list.
    10
    Draw-in the selected edge.
    11
Save the shape with the shr format.

Points 5 to 10 must be repeated until you are finished drawing the shape.

The shape will be connected with the pattern using the Open and Position Shape... function from the Shape menu.

Proceed analogously to the shape edges for markings.
